What we do at 9 High Street

  • Generate income for the charity by selling donated furniture and other household items.
  • Repair and repurpose secondhand items which would otherwise be thrown out
  • Provide a drop-in community space in the centre of Kingussie
  • Reduce food waste through our community foodshare projects
  • Involve and include our trainees and volunteers in running all aspects of the Hub
  • Provide a welcoming space for community meetings, workshops and activities

Events & Activities

Caberfeidh Horizons runs a community foodshare area in the Community Hub in conjunction with Kingussie Co-op. This is a waste reduction project aimed at reducing local food waste going into landfill. If you can use any of the donated food, please call in.

The Community Hub also acts as a centre for distributing emergency food parcels for the Badenoch & Strathspey Foodbank. Vouchers for a food bank parcel are issued from local care professionals and other organisations including Citizens Advice Bureau, your GP, Social Worker or Health Visitor, local minister and other voluntary organisations.

Donations and Pick-up Information

We welcome donations for all three of our shops at the Community Hub. Books, clothes, bric-a-brac, furniture, toys, sports equipment, small electrical items, curios............the list is endless.

Most importantly, if you are a UK taxpayer, we would be grateful if you would consider Gift Aiding your donation. This enables us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 we make from selling your goods. Ask any of our staff for a form or more information.

Hub shop

We have limited storage and workshop space so, if your items are large or need any repairs before being saleable, please contact us first. Our trainees and volunteers try to repair and refurbish items and we work with other recycling charities to reduce waste where possible.

We have a small van that can collect or deliver locally if you are unable to transport donations. Unfortunately, we cannot take sofas, large armchairs, beds (including duvets and pillows) or large white goods. Please call us on 01540 662846 with any questions.

Renting one of our rooms

Upstairs there are two well-equipped meeting rooms with a kitchen, toilet facilities and fully disabled access by lift. They are available to hire either as a whole or as individual rooms suitable for:

  • meetings
  • training/classes
  • small events

Downstairs, as well as the shop, there is a large kitchen, workshop and laundry room which may be available at evenings / weekends for groups or individuals if not in use by the charity.

Opening Times

The shop in the Community Hub is open 10am - 4.30pm Monday to Saturday.

The rooms and other facilities are available all week including in the evening by arrangement.
